Downsizers

Downsizing can be "right-sizing"

DOWNSIZING FOR SENIORS

Downsizing for seniors is often “right-sizing” for many reasons.  You may be an “empty-nester” with the children all grown up and have left home, leaving a large house that is getting harder and harder to manage.  It could be that your adult children are now concerned for your health and well-being, so a smaller home with easier mobility may be best for your safety.  It could be that the cost of property taxes, maintenance and upkeep is too much to handle on a fixed retirement salary.  Whatever the reason, we are here to make downsizing as easy as possible.

DOWNSIZING SUCCESS STORIES

Moving In With Our Daughter

This senior couple have been thinking about downsizing for many years, but couldn't bring themselves to depart from their home of over 30 years.  Even after doing renovations to the home to help with mobility, they could not help with certain ongoing health issues.  The children of this couple wanted them to move closer to them rather than an hour drive away so that they can be there quickly in case of emergencies.  Better still, they ended up moving into the downstairs suite of their daughters' home.  They sold their home and purchased a smaller condominimum that they now rent out and adds to their monthly retirement income.

Safety For Dad

This family made the decision to downsize for their aging father.  The family lived in a 3-level row-home and the flights of stairs were too difficult to keep moving up and down on a daily basis.  They sold their row-home and moved to a 3 bedroom plus loft PENTHOUSE style condo, all on one level which had 2 balconies and a rooftop deck.  Although the square footage was slightly smaller, the family agreed that because of the one-level spacious layout, it didn’t feel like they downsized at all!

DOWNSIZING TESTIMONIAL

Johnny and Veronica handled this transition for us in a patient and respectful manner.

The sale of our property was an emotional one.  We had lived there for over 30 years, and we raised our children in that home.  It was a difficult decision for our family but a necessary one.  Johnny and Veronica handled this transition for us in such a patient and respectful manner.  They did not rush us to make quick decisions, they held our hand throughout the selling and buying process and made things as easy for us as possible.  I would highly recommend them as realtors in any situation.
